The 7 Faces of Intention

With the New Year upon us it's the perfect time to set new intentions or to reconnect with intentions that you wish to deepen or bring to fruition. If that's the case for you then I've got the perfect solution!  Just change the way you look at things and watch the world around you begin to transform as well.

What Do You See?

The Face of Creativity.

The first of the seven faces of intention is the creative expression of the power of intention that designed us, got us here, and created an environment that’s compatible with our needs. The power of intention has to be creative or nothing would come into existence. It seems to me that this is an irrefutable truth about intention/spirit, because its purpose is to bring life into existence in a suitable environment. Why do I conclude that the life-giving power of intention intends us to have life, and have it in increasing abundance? Because, if the opposite were true, life as we know it couldn’t come into form.

The Face of Kindness.

Any power that has, as its inherent nature, the need to create and convert energy into physical form must also be a kindly power. Again, I’m deducing this from the opposite. If the all-giving power of intention had at its core the desire to be unkind, malevolent, or hurtful, then creation itself would be impossible. The moment unkind energy became form, the life-giving Spirit would be destroyed. Instead, the power of intention has a face of kindness. It is kind energy intending what it’s creating to flourish and grow, and to be happy and fulfilled. Our existence is proof to me of the kindness of intention. Choosing to be kind is a choice to have the power of intention active in your life.

The Face of Love.

The third of the seven faces of intention is the face of love. That there’s a life-giving nature inherent in the power of intention is an irrefutable conclusion. What would we name this quality that encourages, enhances, and supports all of life, if not love? It’s the prime moving power of the Universal Spirit of Intent. As Ralph Waldo Emerson put it: "Love is our highest word and the synonym for God."

The Face of Love

The Face of Beauty

The fourth of my seven faces of intention is the face of beauty. What else could a creative, kind, and loving expression be, other than beautiful? Why would the organizing intelligence of intention ever elect to manifest into form anything that’s repugnant to itself? Obviously, it wouldn’t. So we can conclude that the nature of intention has an eternal interaction of love and beauty, and add the expression of beauty to the face of a creative, kind, loving power of intention.

In order to grasp the significance of beauty as one of the faces of intention, remember this: Beautiful thoughts build a beautiful soul. As you become repetitive to seeing and feeling beauty around you, you’re becoming attuned to the creative power of intention within everything in the natural world, including yourself. By choosing to see beauty in everything, even a person who was born into poverty and ignorance will be able to experience the power of intention. Seeking beauty in the worst of circumstances with individual intent connects one to the power of intention. It works. It has to work. The face of beauty is always present, even where others see non-beauty.

The Face of Expansion

The elemental nature of life is to increase and seek more and more expression. If we could sharply focus on the faces of intention, we’d be startled. I imagine that one of the faces we’d see is a continuously expanding expression of the power of intention. The nature of this creative spirit is always operating so as to expand. Spirit is a forming power. It has the principle of increase, meaning that life continues to expand toward more life. Life as we know it originates from formless intention. Therefore, one of the faces of intention looks like something that’s eternally evolving. It might look like a tiny speck in a continuous state of duplicating itself, and then enlarging itself, and then moving forward, all the while continuing its expansion and expression.

The Face of Unlimited Abundance

This sixth face of intention is an expression of something that has no boundaries, is everywhere at once, and is endlessly abundant. It’s not just huge, it never stops. This marvelous gift of abundance is what you were created from. Thus you too share this in the expression of your life. You’re actually fulfilling the law of abundance. These gifts are given freely and fully to you just as the air, the sun, the water, and the atmosphere are provided in unlimited abundance for you.

The Face of Receptivity.

This is how I imagine the seventh face, the receptive face of intention. It’s simply receptive to all. No one and no thing is rejected by the receptive face of intention. It welcomes everyone and every living thing, without judgment–never granting the power of intention to some and withholding it from others. The receptive face of intention means to me that all of nature is waiting to be called into action. We only need to be willing to recognize and receive. Intention can’t respond to you if you fail to recognize it. If you see chance and coincidence governing your life and the world, then the universal mind of intention will appear to you as nothing but an amalgamation of forces devoid of any order or power.

Chaos Brings Calm

So often we criticize ourselves and others for disorganized homes and offices. But there's another way of looking at this thing we call chaos.

I look at chaos as an opportunity to start anew! To regroup and reorganize resulting in a higher level of organization and functioning.

Do the next time you see yourself in chaos ... regroup and refocus. I'm sure you'll like what you can achieve!

Inspired Living

These days there's so much talk about living your passion and creating an inspired life!  But not everyone is aware of how to undertake such a task.  So naturally...I felt compelled to share with you how to start.  First, take a few moments every day connecting to what it is that you truly wish to create in your life.  Perhaps you will want to sit and just relax and clear your mind for two to three minutes.  If you can actually take up a practice of meditating then that's even better!

Next, visualize what it is that you truly desire.  As you begin to visualise what you want, begin to picture yourself in that situation.  While maintaining a relaxed and peaceful state, see yourself functioning and enjoying every moment of whatever it is that you wish to create in your life.

And finally, hold that feeling with  you  throughout the day and connect to it when you need to.  Some examples of when you might need to connect with it are when you're feeling stressed or frustrated.  When you become tired of your circumstance, connect to what you inspire to have or to be in your life.  By doing these simple things routinely, you will begin to live and inspired life!

To your insired life!  Cheers!

Seeing Is Believing

We all know that often we have to see things with our own eyes before we "believe" it.  And yet many of us have faith but we don't use it to completely benefit ourselves or the world around us.  So how about trying this...

Start to see things through the eyes of love.  We all have the power to change our perception and to change our mind and those who do have the ability to create awesome lives!

Love not only heals old hurts and helps us to make mend old hurtful relationships...it holds the power to transform your life and your love for others and the world.  So start with self love and with seeing the world through the eyes of love.  And more importantly, start with seeing yourself through your own loving and beautiful eyes.

You will eventually LOVE what you see!

Hot Hot Hot Yoga !

I've been practicing Bikram Hot Yoga since 2005 and absolutely love the way I feel inside and out!  This powerful yoga not only helps you lose weight and inches, it takes years off of your appearance and holds the power to help you get off meds for seemingly chronic conditions.  I personally have gotten off of two anti-depressants and sleeping and anxiety meds by doing just two things.  The first is hot yoga and the second is eating whole foods and living my life holistically and  meaningfully.

But there's no need to take my advise.  Try it out yourself.  If it's yoga you're looking for there are a few studios in Western New York.  Bikram Yoga Williamsville and Evolation Yoga in Orchard Park and Buffalo are three fabulous studios.  Bikram Yoga NYC has some really fantastic places to practice.

And if it's nutrition and health advise that you need then you can email me at maryjo@maryjobriggs.com   I have alot of free resources along with a newsletter and free teleclasses that will be unfolding this fall!

In fact, I have a specialty teleclass that's just about to launch in late July or early August.  To get on the list go to:  http://www.bulimiabreakthrough.com/  It's the ultimate solution for anyone suffering with emotional eating or and eating disorder.

And remember you can get a free 20 minute breakthrough health consult at no cost simply by booking it by July 15th!  You simply need to send me an email with your phone number and I'll be in touch to help you on your way to achieving health and prosperity in your life easily and effortlessly.

In the meantime, enjoy this beautiful day!

Evolve To Love

Did you know that yoga will help you to love yourself and others around you?  Yes, it's true.  Through the process of breathe and relaxation, yoga allows you to let go of judgments and criticisms that can have a negative impact on your relationships with others and more importantly, with your Self!

So the next time you find yourself starting to judge someone or a situation, step back and relax.  Take several deep breaths and allow your mind to follow the breathe and watch your troubles begin to change into something different and more manageable.  Remember to do this as much as possible for maximum benefit.  Yoga will truly allow you to evolve to love your Self!

Have a beautiful day!

Be Light, Be Love, Be You.

Breathe for Clarity

Breathing is so essential for health and life....seems like an obvious thing but many of us take breathe for granted.  Some people actually go through life saying things like , "Oh I don't have time to breathe today" or "I'll just hold my breathe and hope it all works out."  I once had an old boss say that to me and when I began to think about it I though "Hmmm, now that's so not healthy."

Now if you're doing yoga you already know the power of breathe.  Taking the time to breathe each morning and before going to bed has so many health benefits.  Doing yoga regularly helps to lower your blood pressure, improves metabolism and digestion, helps with mental clarity and so many other benefits.

So the next time you are feeling stressed, take a breathe break.  Feed your body and your mind some old fashioned breathe.  There's actually a type of diet called the "breatharian diet."  Google it and see what you think.

Share you thoughts and enjoy the day starting with some beautiful breathe.

Keeping Your Dreams

Have you ever wondered why some people can achieve their dreams and others are not always able to?  It does seem amazing that some can simply move forward, leaving the branch and busting through limitations, while others cling to the branch giving up their hopes and dreams.  After all, life happens and things can and do get in the way.  But that never means that we must give up a part of what we truly want, desire and actually deserve!  It is your birthright to live out your dream!
One thing that keeps most people from achieving their dreams is this.   Dream stealers.  You know, they're the people who tell you your dreams are not achievable or not realistic.  And eventually, after you hear those negative messages for so long, you start believing them and YOU become your own dream stealer.
But luckily all of that is easily overcome by simply changing your mind.
Not sure how to do that?  It's simple.  Connect to your breath everyday, enroll in a yoga class and do one thing each day that makes you happy.  Start small and stay focused and positive.  Always focus on your end result never taking your eye or your heart off the dream.  Begin to feel what it will be like when you've achieved your dream and then start living as if the dream has already been attained.
For more support in achieving your dreams contact me personally at 716.410.4504.  I'd love to help you create the life of your dreams.

Mary Jo

The Comfort of Limitation

Limitation brings with it comfort and it is also what can keep us on the branch.  Afraid to fly and fearful of taking flight, it is natural to find comfort in limitation for within it is everything we know, believe and have come to trust.  Within the comfort of limitation, our past experiences rule our every move.

Yet there is also a particular sort of comfort in knowing that we DESERVE to live to our full potential.  And yet it is often the hardes thing for us to do.  It can be challenging to move out of our comfort zones.

One thing is for sure.  Those who seek change allow themselves to fly while those who feel inadequate cling to the branch.  You get to choose.  Which are you or which will you be?

If you are choosing to cling to the branch, what are you holding on to?  What are you allowing to prevent you from flying?  What is it and when will you let go?

I know first hand that these facets work.  The first facet, if practiced, will allow you to take flight. You simply need to practice it.

Briefly, here is the first facet.  In a comfy relaxed position, breathe and quiet the mind.  Then say in your mind, "Praise love for this moment in its perfection."  Pause a moment or two and repeat.  Continue to do this while remaining relaxed.  Next take the focus deep to the center of your heart as you say the phrase in your mind and pause briefly.  Continue this for twenty minutes per day.  And you need not practice twenty minutes non stop.  You can practice five or ten minutes at a time.

In the meantime, find joy in the simple things and breathe.

Cutting the Branch

Once there was a king who received a gift of two magnificent falcons from Arabia.  They were peregrine falcons, the most beautiful birds he had ever seen.  He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained.
Months passed, and one day the head falconer informed the king tha tthough one of the falcons was flying majestically, soaring high in the sky, the other bird had not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived.
The king summoned healers an dsorcerers from all the land to tend to the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly.  He presented the task to the members of his court, but the next day, the king saw through the palace window that the bird had still not moved from its perch.  having tried everything else, the king thought to himself, "Maybe I need someone more familiar with the countryside to understand the nature of this problem!"  So he cried out to his court, "Go and get a farmer!"
In the morning, the king was thriled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens.  He said to his court, "Bring me the doer of this miracle."
The court quickly located the farmer, who came and stood before the king.  The king asked him, "How did you make the falcon fly?"
With his head bowed, the farmer said to the king, "It was easy, your highness.  I simply cut the branch."

We were al made to fly ---to realize our incredible potential as human beings.  But often, instead, we cling to the branch sticking with what is familiar to us.

I want you to know that the possibilities are endless!  Go ahead and explore what branch you need to cut so that you can soar!

Welcome to Inspiration Yoga!

As many of you know I have been teaching yoga for almost ten years and loving every moment of it.  From Jamaica to the Dominican Republic to Mexico and more, I recently decided to open my own studio.  Hot Yoga Fredonia has been in operation since November 28th, 2009 and is growing everyday.

As a way to offer the benefits of yoga to my members and to their family and friends, I've decided to start my own brand of yoga called iYogaOnline or Inspiration Yoga.

And while I love having new people visiting and practicing at the studio in downtown Fredonia, I realize that the benefits of yoga can be experienced outside the studio in very profound ways.  Many of the things that you experience outside the studio, after class is over, is often referred to as "yoga off the matt."

Check back regularly for posts about what's new and fabulous with iYoga and Hot Yoga Fredonia!
