Keeping Your Dreams

Have you ever wondered why some people can achieve their dreams and others are not always able to?  It does seem amazing that some can simply move forward, leaving the branch and busting through limitations, while others cling to the branch giving up their hopes and dreams.  After all, life happens and things can and do get in the way.  But that never means that we must give up a part of what we truly want, desire and actually deserve!  It is your birthright to live out your dream!
One thing that keeps most people from achieving their dreams is this.   Dream stealers.  You know, they're the people who tell you your dreams are not achievable or not realistic.  And eventually, after you hear those negative messages for so long, you start believing them and YOU become your own dream stealer.
But luckily all of that is easily overcome by simply changing your mind.
Not sure how to do that?  It's simple.  Connect to your breath everyday, enroll in a yoga class and do one thing each day that makes you happy.  Start small and stay focused and positive.  Always focus on your end result never taking your eye or your heart off the dream.  Begin to feel what it will be like when you've achieved your dream and then start living as if the dream has already been attained.

The Comfort of Limitation

Limitation brings with it comfort and it is also what can keep us on the branch.  Afraid to fly and fearful of taking flight, it is natural to find comfort in limitation for within it is everything we know, believe and have come to trust.  Within the comfort of limitation, our past experiences rule our every move.

Yet there is also a particular sort of comfort in knowing that we DESERVE to live to our full potential.  And yet it is often the hardes thing for us to do.  It can be challenging to move out of our comfort zones.

One thing is for sure.  Those who seek change allow themselves to fly while those who feel inadequate cling to the branch.  You get to choose.  Which are you or which will you be?

If you are choosing to cling to the branch, what are you holding on to?  What are you allowing to prevent you from flying?  What is it and when will you let go?

I know first hand that these facets work.  The first facet, if practiced, will allow you to take flight. You simply need to practice it.

Briefly, here is the first facet.  In a comfy relaxed position, breathe and quiet the mind.  Then say in your mind, "Praise love for this moment in its perfection."  Pause a moment or two and repeat.  Continue to do this while remaining relaxed.  Next take the focus deep to the center of your heart as you say the phrase in your mind and pause briefly.  Continue this for twenty minutes per day.  And you need not practice twenty minutes non stop.  You can practice five or ten minutes at a time.

In the meantime, find joy in the simple things and breathe.

Cutting the Branch

Once there was a king who received a gift of two magnificent falcons from Arabia.  They were peregrine falcons, the most beautiful birds he had ever seen.  He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained.
Months passed, and one day the head falconer informed the king tha tthough one of the falcons was flying majestically, soaring high in the sky, the other bird had not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived.
The king summoned healers an dsorcerers from all the land to tend to the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly.  He presented the task to the members of his court, but the next day, the king saw through the palace window that the bird had still not moved from its perch.  having tried everything else, the king thought to himself, "Maybe I need someone more familiar with the countryside to understand the nature of this problem!"  So he cried out to his court, "Go and get a farmer!"
In the morning, the king was thriled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens.  He said to his court, "Bring me the doer of this miracle."
The court quickly located the farmer, who came and stood before the king.  The king asked him, "How did you make the falcon fly?"
With his head bowed, the farmer said to the king, "It was easy, your highness.  I simply cut the branch."

We were al made to fly ---to realize our incredible potential as human beings.  But often, instead, we cling to the branch sticking with what is familiar to us.

I want you to know that the possibilities are endless!  Go ahead and explore what branch you need to cut so that you can soar!

Welcome to Inspiration Yoga!

As many of you know I have been teaching yoga for almost ten years and loving every moment of it.  From Jamaica to the Dominican Republic to Mexico and more, I recently decided to open my own studio.  Hot Yoga Fredonia has been in operation since November 28th, 2009 and is growing everyday.

As a way to offer the benefits of yoga to my members and to their family and friends, I've decided to start my own brand of yoga called iYogaOnline or Inspiration Yoga.

And while I love having new people visiting and practicing at the studio in downtown Fredonia, I realize that the benefits of yoga can be experienced outside the studio in very profound ways.  Many of the things that you experience outside the studio, after class is over, is often referred to as "yoga off the matt."

Check back regularly for posts about what's new and fabulous with iYoga and Hot Yoga Fredonia!
